The Toronto Maple Leafs traded left winger Kris Versteeg to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for two draft picks – a first and a third – last night.
In Versteeg's unexpectedly short tenure with the Leafs, the 24 year old accumulated a respectable 14 goals and 21 assists in only 53 games.
However, with last week's acquisition of Joffrey Lupul, who was sent in a package from the Ducks for Francois Beauchemin, Versteeg became expendable.
Christian Hanson has been recalled from Toronto's AHL affiliate, the Marlies, to fill Versteeg's role for the foreseeable future.
The Leafs also announced today that they have acquired Aaron Voros from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for a conditional 7th round draft pick.
Voros will take Hanson's spot on the Marlies.
