Bro ballers Maurice (Vermont) and Kris Joseph (Syracuse) who grew up shooting hoops in Montreal’s Kent Park square off against each other Friday. Sophomore forward Kris is a key weapon in the Orange attack. The Big East’s Sixth Man of the Year award winner averaged 11.3 points and 5.4 rebounds this season. With Arinze Onuaku who is nursing a quadriceps injury likely a scratch, the younger brother should get plenty of court time.

Meanwhile senior guard Maurice was Vermont’s number-two scorer this season, shooting 38% from the arc and averaging 14.1 points a game. The game is in Buffalo’s HSBC arena so the siblings’ family is expected to be out in full force. A 16th seed has never dethroned a No. 1 seed in Tourney history so the odds are on the younger brother’s side but Vermont would love to be an answer to a new sports trivia question. Upping the Canadian quotient another swish will be Andy Rautins (Canadian National team head coach Leo’s son) who plays shooting guard for Syracuse.
